RSS

The website's front page lists current announcements, most of which are not sent by email, so you should check here often.  However, there is another way to get this information delivered to you - a popular service called RSS.

RSS takes information from many sources and delivers updates to you in a single place, such as your web browser or email.  The troop provides copies of the updates made to the front page, including updates on troop events, through this free service.  The fastest way to access this service is by clicking on the RSS button at the bottom of every form.

Although you can use this RSS feed in many ways,  here are instructions for receiving the updates through email:
  1. Go to tabbloid.com
  2. Click on the large "Create Tabbloid" blue button
  3. In the "Add a Feed URL" box, enter "http://www.803bsa.com/rss.xml" and press the "add" button
  4. Enter your email address and how often you want to receive the updates.  Each time there is an update to the website, you'll get a PDF file in the
Of course, you can use the RSS feed anyway you want. We have tested it in the following programs:
  1. Outlook
  2. Google Reader
  3. Tabbloid.com

Calendar

If you already maintain an electronic calendar in another program such as outlook (97 or later) or google, you can have the troop's calendar available along with yours.  There are two options here, depending on your program.
If you use google's calendar, you can add this calendar:
http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=hk42qevdh94q3k1a0kgtisqci4%40gr...

If you use outlook ot other calendar programs, add this "internet calendar":
http://www.google.com/calendar/ical/hk42qevdh94q3k1a0kgtisqci4%40group.c...

Although the calendar lists the dates, times, and usually places for the events, the details for events can be found in the "Get information on ..." box in the upper left side of the front page.  Last minute details are added here.

We are always looking for ways to improve the website, so if you have any suggestions or other comments please feel free to send them to the webmaster.
